CarveWright Designer 6.000.00041 ================================ Compiling a board that uses a roughing bit is several times faster, a right-click off the board no longer freezes the view, and four crashes are fixed. Improved -------- * Compiling is much faster on any board that uses a roughing bit. The roughing pass was testing the fit of the bit far more finely than the bit can actually cut -- at 512 units per inch a quarter-inch bit covers 128 cells, and neighbouring positions were being worked out from scratch even though they overlap almost entirely. On a 16 x 7 inch alligator the roughing pass went from 202 seconds to 3, and the whole compile from 252 seconds to 51. The toolpath is unchanged: the compiled result is identical, cell for cell. * Designer uses less memory while you work. Two blocks of pattern data were being left behind on every redraw of a text or vector carving. Fixed ----- * Right-clicking anywhere off the board left the board unclickable and impossible to rotate until the window was clicked away from and back. * Closing the line art preview while More Detail Here was still tracing could crash Designer. A re-trace takes tens of seconds on the server, and the two buttons most likely to be pressed in that time both close the dialog. * Designer could crash while closing, if the credits readout in the ribbon had a request outstanding at the time. * Dragging a shape could crash Designer when one of its segments could not be built -- the segment is now left out instead of being carried as an empty one. Zero-length segments, which a drawing can legitimately contain, are the common case. * A memory card whose mount point could not be read was then treated as a card mounted at an empty path -- for the rest of the session, even after the card was removed and replaced. Free space and file paths were wrong for it. A card that has only just been inserted is also recognised straight away instead of waiting for the next scan.
